A Soft Touch for Teaching

 We
know how very hard it is to be an effective special educator. We have worked
with students with severe disabilities for most of our careers. Both of us
started briefly in other teaching fields. Jo was a home economics teacher;
Linda was an art and English teacher. Teaching special education is different.
Each student is a puzzle. There is no set curriculum. There is not recipe to
follow. There are no correct answers. Instead, each year we have pieces of the
puzzle to put together so the sutdent can learn. Connecting the pieces depended
on our creativity and our relationship with the student.
Now, we are the leaders of the SoftTouch, Inc. team. We want to give educators
choices that will help students learn. But our real mission is to have the
students enjoy the learning process. We want the students to have fun while
they are learning.
